this is how we cherpumple

Hello, internet friends! If you've found my blog by way of those cherpumple photos on Yahoo, welcome. My name is Victoria VanBruinisse and, among other things, I'm a pro-hobbyist photographer in Seattle, Washington. Welcome to my little slice of the web!

The video above (along with some Facebook posts by my friend Gretchen) was what inspired me to make the cherpumple for that office party two holidays ago. I used pre-made pies from Trader Joe's (they tend to be a little bit on the small side, perfect for fitting into a cake layer) and boxed cake mix. The end result was pretty sweet -- taste-wise, I mean -- and if I had the whole thing to do over again, I'd definitely make the pies and cakes with low-sugar, organic, whole-food based ingredients. But! The cake was a smash hit and was absolutely the life of that year's party.
